In the run up to the Holi Festival, the Elephant Festival is held annually in the pink city of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India.

The festival takes place at the Jaipur Chaugan Stadium where elephants are decorated and led through a procession down the city streets and into the stadium. In addition, they play Holi by throwing colors on each other. Other events at the Elephant Festival include elephant tug-of-war, beauty contests, and folk dances.

The event takes place in the early evening, usually starting around 4 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m.

Check in advance whether the Elephant Festival will be taking place. In recent years there has been cancellations due to animal activists.
