Over 5 million visitors attend Oktoberfest each year. The festival takes place in the area of Theresienwiese, in Munich’s city center, where visitors drink nearly 7 million liters of beer that was brewed within Munich’s city limits, and consume traditional German cuisine including bratwurst and sausages.

A twelve gun salute and tapping of a keg starts the festival each year, and visitors often don Bavarian hats. Many of the tents play live music until 6:00 p.m.
