Considered the biggest festival of the year for Mongolians, the Nadaam Festival, or Eriyn Gurvan Nadaam, is celebrated every July 11th and is a national holiday in Mongolia.

The Nadaam Games date back to Mongolia’s revolution in 1921, where each year all the hardships of the summer months are forgotten with a sports festival that is akin to the Mongolian Olympics.

The Nadaam Games showcases Genghis Khan’s descendants as they compete in “The Three Manly Sports” of wrestling, archery and horse racing.

The three day event begins with an opening ceremony of dancers, musicians, horses and athletes. Afterwards, the competition begins.
