The Songkran Festival also known as the Thailand Water Festival is in full force mid-April each year, complete with water pistols, hoses, buckets of water and water balloons.

Considered the Thai New Year, the festival gives blessings through water for peace. There are bathing rites for different age groups as well.

The festival is celebrated all over Thailand with fervor, and includes the important ritual of bathing the Buddha.
