La Fiesta Patria Gaucha, or the Festival of the Gaucho Culture, takes place in Uruguay during the second week of March, and is celebrated with rodeos, folk music, dance and parades.
Uruguay’s is one of the biggest in South America with roughly 3,000 horses present each year and thousands of guests watching the equestrian events. There are also competitions and contests, and traditional food cooked in parrillas is served.
Many dress is gaucho style, and there are also lassoing contests, barback rodeos and more.
